Cheap Flights From New York is an independent flight-research site. We publish observed prices and explain what was searched, when it was checked, and what the comparison can—and cannot—tell you.

How destinations are selected

We downloaded BTS T-100 domestic market data for US carriers and international market data for all carriers. We use the latest twelve months present in both downloads, filter scheduled passenger service (service class F) departing JFK, EWR or LGA, and aggregate by BTS destination city-market identifier.

The launch dataset covers 2025-06 through 2026-05. The initial 100 destinations are the highest-ranking markets with an identifiable scheduled-service airport. Airports contributing less than 2% of their destination market’s NYC passenger count are excluded from the initial search set; up to four airports are included per market.

BTS counts on-flight market passengers, not unique people or final-trip demand. Connecting hubs can rank highly. These numbers are not search volumes, and the list is not a claim about the best destinations to visit.

What each fare search means

Scrapingdog retrieves Google Flights search results. Initial round-trip results often show the outward leg with an indicative round-trip price. We only label a complete itinerary as return-verified after selecting an outward flight and retrieving a matching return. The final provider or airline checkout determines the payable price.

The airport savings index

Each comparison matches destination-airport set, outward date, return date, passenger count, cabin and currency across JFK, EWR and LGA. All three checks must fall within a 24-hour window. We select the lowest sampled fare for each airport and calculate the difference between the highest and lowest prices.

The index allows different airlines and stop counts. It measures an observed fare spread, not an identical-flight discount. We show ties and never describe one airport as universally cheapest. Results are demand-led samples rather than an exhaustive or statistically representative survey.

Travel periods are different from price history

The upcoming-period chart groups searches by future departure month. Its lowest price is the lowest among the dates we sampled, not the cheapest available day of that month. Sample counts are provided.

The historical chart is an optional series returned by Google Flights for a specific search. We keep its departure airport, arrival-airport set and travel dates attached. We do not combine unrelated date searches into a destination-wide price history or use the series to make booking predictions.

Freshness and failed checks

Headline fares must have been successfully checked within 48 hours. Current fare tables include observations checked within seven days and exclude departed trips. Older research can remain available with dates, but it is not advertised as current. A site rebuild alone never changes an observation’s check time.

Refresh jobs are designed to run daily, with broader weekly and monthly samples. They stop at the project’s monthly credit cap. If data is unavailable, pages show a clear empty or stale state rather than estimated prices.

Downloadable graphics and comparison tables describe our derived research. Please link to the originating page, include its check date, and retain the methodology and sampled-data labels. Provider responses, booking tokens and passenger subscription data are not published.

Editorial and commercial independence

Route summaries combine reproducible calculations with source-backed airport context. We do not claim to have flown or personally reviewed every route. Airline and booking links are navigation aids; any future compensated links will be marked. Commercial arrangements will not change the measured lowest fare.
